Patreon – What do you say?

I have been looking more and more into setting up a Patreon account for my Steampunk/Victorian Fantasy series The Diaries of James Purcell.

When I think of rewards levels I feel confused. I have settled on one of two reward levels based on a monthly donation system, but now need you thoughts.

£3.00 pcm – Name listed in both digital and print as a Patron as well as access to the Patreon blog and Members area of the new site (when I get the UI sorted out)

£5.00 pcm – The above +free digital copy when available.

£10.00 pcm – The above+ free paper copy.

£15.00 pcm – All of the others except that the paperback will be signed and come with a special free gift.

Originally I was going to lower the levels but as with all things, the parts for the free gift are not available anymore and have to pick more expensive versions.

So having never done this before, what do you say?
Please drop me a message and let me know what your view is?
The only time I will not allowed a message is if it’s trolling or spam so please feel free to have your say.

As ever,

Back matter.

I keep finding odd bits that need cleaning up in the editing section but the formatting is almost complete and after a rocky morning of bug fixing managed to get scrivener to compile it correctly. Still some things to sort out (artwork being top of the list), but thoughts now turn to the rear section. I have added the author biography and a page liking to the first book but now I find my self thinking about adding previews of the next two books that are (time line wise) also due out.

I still haven’t finished Exiles (which is also due this year), but atleast the deadline is looking like it will be possible.

I need a holiday.

Why the Silence?

Why haven’t I updated properly for so long?

I still haven’t fixed the formatting of the paperback (still have dpi resolution issues) and Book 2 is way behind target.

The rewrite of Book 1 Æther Shadow passed 34K tonight and well on its way to passing the 60K mark, so much new material has been added to it that now makes it a story. I hadn’t considered the missing parts when I wrote the original version, but the new version now add more depth to the characters and the plot. I have also pulled a massive section that just felt out of place.

I may finish by December, but I am sure that it will miss its planned All Hallows eve release date.

See you in port next time Airship Captains.

First paperback proof inbound.

After much hard work and swearing the current file drafts passed the pre-publish review and I have ordered the proof paperback.

Its costing me nearly £10 in P&P but hopefully it will arrive in time for Christmas.

To be honest, I’m sick of tired of re-reading this book for editing so am going to move on to the next book called Æther Shadow.

Some will notice that the current book is numbered #00, this is not an error, it is intentional. Æther Shadow was always intended to be the First book in the series but the test readers wanted to know about some of the back story and so The End was written. This one shouldn’t take much to get published as it’s near complete (bar the proofreading and editing).

After the writing course there are some thing i will add and some that need removing but I am eager to move on.

And its live!

Well the book is up on Amazon now but I have a horrible feeling that KDP has screwed up.
Two days ago I uploaded a new version with loads of spelling and formatting fix’s but the “Look Inside” shows an old version with an error filled dedication!

I do hope its just the preview thats out and the KDP preview mobi looked ok!

If anyone finds any issues please feel free to shout out here!

The Deadline is looming.

I do not know what to expect, as I have said before, this is a novel that was never supposed to exist but it does and even though it has some issues (to be sorted on the next re-write/compilation) it is almost ready to go.

To cover this “Broken” issue I have added this.

Preface.

Dear readers, while the first part of this book is complete, I am afraid the the second half has the feeling of being incomplete and missing chapters. I have to confess that you have notice a problem that I have had to face while writing this. After over a hundred years, there are still chapters of my life that are still sealed under the Two Worlds Alliance Secrets act. While I am working hard to try to get them made public, I am afraid that they are unavailable and the copy of the manuscript that has these chapters included has been redacted to the version that I now present to you. If you would like to see these lost chapters made public, please support my petition to get them released.

When I can work out how to make the petition I will upload and link to it.

NaNoWriMo 2014, The Story that never was supposed to start!

NaNoWriMo 2014, The Story that never was supposed to start!

I have thought long and hard over Joining NaNoWriMo this year and I have to say that I have given in and posted up my entry.

Like most stories, I had never even thought about this but the idea is running away and a character that was killed in the beginning of book #0 The End (hopefully coming out for haloween) is having her own novel. My novel called “The Lady Death” follows James fiancee Eleanor Theologian as she faces death and the fact that she can never be with him again no matter how many time he may die.

This book will involve spoilers concerning the nine book’s that make up the main stream of “The Diaries of James Purcell” so will probably not see the light of day until I finish the series (well not unless I cave under pressure of readers who want to know more.

Has anyone ever seen this image before? ac5a93fe4d299258aae8938c0ef7f158 I would like to use an edited version of it in my book but have run out of links to follow to its source. Does anyone spot where this image came from and who its creator was?
