Colt Navy 1851 Steampunk Prop.

Colt Navy 1851 Steampunk Prop.

When Idea’s for my book lag I start working on making things. My latest project is a Colt Navy 1851 which I am building out of acrylic and wood. It won’t be a perfect clone as it will get a Steampunk treatment to it.

Acrylic Colt Navy parts.

This shows a few of the rough parts placed together.

I still have polishing, engraving and staining to do on the grip and find two identical gears to place in the grip. The barrel still needs trimming, shaping and drilling to finish.

Today’s project on the Colt Navy was the centre section of gun.

This image shows the trigger guard added to the centre (would receiver still be technically correct for a gun like this). I’m not sure if my plans are abit under scale or the soldiers of that time had small fingers, but I can only just get the finger into it!

The finished gun will have some special decoration to match the gun carried by Captain James Purcell in my books, The Diaries of James Purcell. Still a long way to go but once it’s finished I will start work on a proper mechanically (but non firing) version.

It’s now raining so I can’t do any more on it today and I need to send the barrel away to be drilled (I have no Idea how to get a 10mm diameter hole squarely down a 190mm barrel!) but on closing.

How on earth did they do these things without power tools, I have no idea how they managed it!.

Well that’s all from today’s Diary of James Purcell. See you in port next time, Airship Pilots.

On to Book 2.5 and book 3. Shelly Lee and The Black diary.

Well as much as I need a rest, my misfiring synapse and crying out to write more.

Book 2.5 – Shelly Lee, continues the story of the crew of the Aether Shadow after James leaves and finished just after book 3 starts.

Book 3 – The Black Diary, Is the end to the James’s story. He does not get killed, but his part in all this come to a temporary end.

Over all, this world has 15 books planned over several sub series that intertwine with each other. There is also two prequel series that will cover the younger years of James building up to the events of the The Diaries of James Purcell.

That’s all I can say for now, as the keyboard calls out to me.

See you in port soon Airship Captains!

A break from writing???

A break from writing???

Well the competition entry’s have been handed in and I started re-reading the work done on “Tales of the Aether Shadow – England

I may have to change some of the fundamental basics of it due to possible copyright claims but lets see how far it goes.

At 19 thousand worlds its well short of the 50K minimum for a novel and by my planning is about 60%!

I’m going to break it down into a series of mini stories and see if I can work things out from there. TotAS is actually a series of two parallel books telling each side story of a war spanning two dimentions.

England covers Captain James Purcell and the crew of the Aether Shadow, as they try to cope with people trying to take the ship away from them.

Albion tells the story of the forces of the Camalonions, the builders of the ship as they try to leave there dieing dimension.

In the end the “Diary’s of James Purcell” will have covered war, Mythical creatures, trans dimensions and living in Victorian England.

That’s all for now, see you in port next time, Airship Captains.

A new Blog and a new start to the year.

A new Blog and a new start to the year.

I have started something I swore I would never do when I left school….. Write!

I hated school, I failed english (native language), had trouble trying to learn spelling and grammar (nothing changed there!) however, I find my self writing.

I’m currently working on “The Diary’s of Captain James Purcell“, this will be a long project consisting of story’s of varying lengths.

Its set in an alternative “SteampunkVictorian era but also has mythical creatures and magic. I just hope I combine it all sucsessfully.

So far, excluding artwork, I have finished  my first story, have two more ready for a writing competition and have a few wips on the go.

I still need to finish editing then send them away to the competition but I’m living in hope.

Well that’s it for the first post.

See you in port soon, Airship Pilots.
